Ski-Orienteering (January 15, 2009)

Registration: 10:30 to 11:00

The registration is in the club house, approximately 500m from the parking.

Start from 11:15

Three courses offered, Novice 2.5km, Intermediate 5km, Advanced 9km. Course lengths are approximate and as “crow flies”. Actual skiing distance is longer.

Electronic punching with SI-system is going be used, please bring your “SI-dibblers”. Loaner dibblers for rent will be available for those who don’t have their own.

Fee: $10.00 (cover Orienteering event and ski area trail fee).

Please pre-register by January 15, 2008 by sending an email to stefanb (at) xplornet (DOT) com to make sure we print enough maps.

Fitzroy Provincial Park is the location of the West Carleton Nordic Ski Club who groom approximately 10km of trails for both skating and classic ski technique. In additions there is a sizable network of skiable roads and trails. The area is relatively flat and the ski trails have beginner to intermediate difficulty. Location:

Fitzroy Provincial Park, Fitzroy Harbour, Ontario, approximately 50km from downtown Ottawa.

Directions:

From Ottawa go Hwy 417 west to the Carp Road exit.
Follow Carp Road north to Fitzroy Harbour.
Follow Provincial park signs to the park entrance.

  • In case of bad weather, please check the OOC web page or the OOC Hot Line (613-226-2773) for any last minute details.
  • We are planning a bon fire at the start/finish area. Please bring hot dogs or other lunch food to heat over the open fire.
